Mummy MOT
initial assessment £90 (75min)• Follow up £60 (60min)
WHO NEEDS A MUMMY MOT?
All postnatal mums! During pregnancy our body changes dramatically but after childbirth (vaginal or c-section) mums can be left feeling weak, exhausted and scarred. This can cause complications such as pain in your back and pelvic area, bladder incontinence, constipation, prolapse, and a ‘tummy gap’. So many women suffer in silence and assume it is the new state of motherhood but despite being common it is not normal and we should not resign ourselves to having pain during sex or avoiding running and bouncing on the trampoline with the kids! So many of these symptoms can be improved or resolved given the right treatment, exercise and advice.
WHAT IS A MUMMY MOT?
The Mummy MOT is a detailed postnatal physiotherapy assessment appropriate any time after your 6 week checkup. It will check your posture, breathing, tummy gap, pelvic floor strength and includes assessment of the internal organs surrounding the abdominal and pelvic area. You will receive a report of the findings on the day. Following the assessment an appropriate safe exercise program will be prescribed. The Mummy MOT combines the principles of Physiotherapy assessment with the practice of functional retraining, identifying muscle imbalances correcting them, regaining stability and allowing optimal function. Becoming a new Mum is a busy time and some mums wait years before seeking help however, it is advised that you get yours early to avoid long term childbirth related complaints.
